Tips and Tricks on How to Make Excel Work for You

July 17th, 2010 by admin

We have been providing you with tips and tricks every week on how to use Microsoft Office products like the MS Office, Excel and Powerpoint, the three vital components of the MS Office.

Our tip and trick for today will be for Microsoft Excel.

Tip No. 1

Let us say you wanted to keep track of your eating habits because you want to be healthy and have a record of what has been going in your mouth.

Open a spreadsheet in Excel and start autofill in the days of the week. How do I autofill in Excel? Simple. Type in the first day of the week which is Monday and then drag it to the end of the 30th cell. Once this is done, you will have about four sets of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

You can also click on the button that will appear on your screen after dragging the cells. In that, there are options on how do you want the autofill to be done.

Tip No. 2

You have just re-arranged your song collection in your MP3 vide Microsoft Excel. In the 3,000 songs, you know you have downloaded probably the same three songs of the Lighthouse Family.

How do I identify and eliminate duplicates in Excel? This will be a bit tricky and will require a consultation from the Microsoft Excel Help tab. You can set up conditional formatting. With this, the songs can be highlighted immediately by putting a condition that once it searches the spreadsheet and sees a similar song title, it will immediately highlight the box or change the colour of the text.

Till the next tip and tricks!
